DAN

Disability Access Navigator

DAN helps you navigate California's Regional Center system -- what to ask for, how to ask for it, and what to do when the first answer is no. Free, confidential, available any time.

Before we start: DAN is an informational tool -- not legal advice. For your specific situation, you should seek guidance from a qualified advocate or attorney. Everything you share stays in this conversation -- nothing is stored or linked to you. Your feedback helps shape what DAN becomes.
DAN asks one question at a time. Click the button that fits — or type your own answer.
When the right next step is a written request, DAN drafts the email for you. Copy it and fill in the blanks.
Download your conversation before you close — nothing is saved between sessions.

Is this real, and is it free?

Yes. DAN is free, and it always will be. It was built by Beth Martinko — a parent and longtime advocate — through SDTA, the Self-Determination Tech Alliance, a California nonprofit. DAN is not ChatGPT and not a private company collecting your data: it's built only on vetted information and real experience navigating Regional Centers and the Self-Determination Program. We don't sell or share your information, and you don't need an account.

DAN Insiders — our newsletter (optional)

We email a newsletter occasionally with information of interest to our developmental disability community in California. No spam; unsubscribe anytime.

Your email goes only to our newsletter list. It is not attached to your conversation or any session data.

By clicking Let's get started, you acknowledge that DAN provides general information only — not legal advice. DAN is not a lawyer or an authorized representative. For legal matters, consult a qualified attorney or disability rights organization.

New to the Self-Determination Program?

SDP lets you control an individual budget for the services and supports you choose. It's a big shift, and it takes some learning. California's State Council on Developmental Disabilities runs the official orientation — start there: scdd.ca.gov. You can also just ask DAN once you begin.

Made better every day by your feedback — support@sdta-np.com, read and replied to by a real human.

Been here before?

DAN doesn't remember past sessions — but you can bring it up to speed. If you downloaded or copied your last conversation, paste it below and DAN will pick up where you left off.
